Virtues and Social Health

Universal House of Justice
In the new millennium, the crucial need of the human race is to find a unifying vision of the nature of man and society. Human nature is fundamentally spiritual and the coming organization of our planet must be informed by this aspect of reality.

I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself… We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.

This platform, created at a critical point – during the global corona virus pandemic which paralyzed much of our planet and revealed the incapability of our current global system of governance to counteract effectively planetary disasters – celebrates the vast social transformation under way. Millions of nongovernmental initiatives are steering global processes toward honoring our interconnectedness, unity in diversity, and global restructuring in the direction of a more just and ecologically sustainable world.

What is the role of each of us in these regional and global processes?

Many scientists are now saying that when the pandemic is over, our world will not be the same, nor can it possibly return to business as usual. What kind of economic and governance system will emerge and how will it become planetarily sustainable?

In the current situation, this platform publishes materials that reflect a growing global movement toward conscious interdependence, unity in diversity and a more just and sustainable global society. We follow global social, environmental and educational processes that are rapidly changing our world as we know it.

The platform opens space for dialogue with young people, as well as all thinking people, regarding the role of each of us in these intensive processes. It emphasizes practical approaches, based on meaningful communication, spiritual values, and a reasonable aspiration toward justice – approaches that develop character and a sense of responsibility, offer a concrete vision, and develop skills for citizenship in an interdependent world.
